Funerals

Anyone who lives in one of our villages is able to have a funeral service in their local parish church, whether they have been habitual churchgoers or not. In addition, the village churchyard, where it is still open, is a place where villagers can be laid to rest, in familiar surroundings at the heart of the community of which they were a part.

If your preference is for a service at the crematorium, one of the local clergy or lay ministers can still take this service for you. We understand that planning a funeral or thanksgiving can be a very hard thing to do when you are coming to terms with the death of someone special to you. We can explain what’s involved and guide you through the processes of designing a service that is right for you and honours the person who has died.

Whilst there are no time limitations for a service in church, we know some people will prefer a simple service that isn’t too long whilst others may want to have more time to remember the person who has died, with tributes, readings and music. You may want to sing hymns, but you don’t have to. We can arrange for an organist to play or you can play music through a sound system. You may like to have the bells rung.
